W.J. (BILL) PRINGLE

Executive Chair, Bordeaux Properties Inc. 

 

Mr. Pringle founded Bordeaux Properties Inc. in 2001 and is its Board Chair.  Bordeaux builds homes in Calgary under the Baywest Homes name, a top 20 builder.  Bordeaux’s land development operations are focused on amenity-rich country residential projects and include the 1,750-acre Harmony project in Springbank, west of Calgary, which it co-manages with Qualico Communities.

 

Mr. Pringle was with the Brookfield Asset Management Group (“BAM”) for 14 years, during which time he had senior roles with the operating arms of Brookfield Properties Corporation, a multi-national real-estate company with, at that time, US $8.6 billion in assets.  He was also a partner in the group which bought control of BAM in 1996.  

  • Until March 2001 he was President and Chief Executive Officer of Brookfield’s technology venture capital group.

  • He was President and CEO of Brookfield Homes from March of 1994 until February of 2000, during which time operations grew from the sale of 1,400 homes per year to 3,000 homes and 4,000 lots per year totaling $1 billion annually in revenue.  During the same period, operating results turned from a loss position to annual profits in excess of $150 million. Brookfield Homes was one of two companies that merged to create Brookfield Residential Properties.

  • At Brookfield’s office building group, he joined as Vice President and Treasurer and was appointed Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in the summer of 1991.  In December 1992, Mr. Pringle was appointed President and held that position until March 1994.  During his tenure, the occupancy rate was raised from 50% to over 90% and all buildings were refinanced.

  • From March 1987 to October 1989, Mr. Pringle was Vice-President and Treasurer of Trilea Centres Inc., a major owner, and manager of regional shopping centers in Canada.

 

Mr. Pringle has also served as Vice President of Finance and Vice President of Operations for a mid-sized retail property developer from 1981 – 1986 and articled with Coopers and Lybrand where he obtained his Chartered Accountancy in 1979.  

 

He received his Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Calgary in 1977. Mr. Pringle is married with three adult children and is involved with various community activities, including past chair of the Major Donor Group, United Way of Calgary.
