The Sandstone Project
This future community, located on the southwest side of Okotoks, consists of just over 427 acres of land for development within the town's limits. In the Sandstone area, which is the base for this project, approximately 74% of the land is currently deemed suitable for development. This site’s yield for homes is anticipated to be in the 3,000’s.
This land comes pre-packaged with invaluable amenities for its future residents, with an active wetland and sandstone ridges traversing the middle of these plains. These gorgeous wetlands are accompanied by natural springs and unique bedrock formations and are the optimal opportunity for year-round recreation from future residents.
Within the greater West Okotoks future development area, there is a forecasted 154 acres of major open spaces, as well as multiple potential sites for schools. To build the framework for an inclusive, vibrant community, the greater area will also include various community nodes and neighbourhood hubs.
To integrate future residents into surrounding communities, this area provides quick access to Highway 2, a planned transit system, and close proximity to existing schools in south Okotoks. The area will also incorporate infrastructure for pedestrians and cyclists, alongside a regional pathway system to support healthy living.
The area structure plan is approved and site planning is anticipated to begin this year.
